‘Intimacy in dance’.
Tango Homage to Villemot
The Bailamos hallmark ‘flat finish’ and negative space create a striking and highly erotic artwork.
A moment of intimacy in the dance captured as if the dancers are sharing an erotic moment. The leader is seemly ‘anyone’ to her enjoyment in the moment!
Her hand flexing as the movement and music take her places far away from daily life.
A tango dancer knows there is another world just beyond the door to a milonga.
Doni Mac is know for bold, flat and minimalist Tango Art. ‘Intimacy in Dance’ was actually originally titled ‘Tango Sex’. Drawing parallels between tango positions and the intimate act of intercourse.
The idea is depicted with the use of negative space that Doni uses in his artwork. A clever way to make a suggestion without playing to the obvious and commonly overstated nature of Tango poses and positions.
A further consideration is the how the negative space includes all clothing enhancing the nature of intimacy in dance.
